The Cairnese is a result of crossing a Cairn Terrier and Havanese. They are good with children if socialized well from birth.
They usually come in sand-like color.
The coat of this breed is thick double layered, coarse, can be either straight or curly which sometimes give them a shaggy look. It can be grown medium in length or longer according to the preference of the owner.
The Cairnese is a happy dog. They are friendly, loving with their family and can get along well with children and other dogs. They are very playful and affectionate. They love to please their owners and enjoys when they get the attention they needed. They make a wonderful family dog and a perfect humane companion.
They are moderate shedders and will require average brushing and grooming maintenance to keep their coat good looking. Brushing for 2-3 times a week would be fine and monthly bathing should be using a hypoallergenic or mild soap to refrain them from having possible skin irritations and allergies.
These breeds are smart and very easy to train. A firm, fair and consistent trainer is recommended for these type of breeds. They are best when socialized early and obedience training is started at puppyhood.
The Cairnese is a very lively, highly energetic, extremely playful and notably active indoors. They perfectly suit in an apartment dwelling living and would not require much space to roam around but giving them access to a large yard would be a bonus for them. Moderate exercise required for these type of breeds.
