Breed Details

General

These Bocker dogs are also called Beakers. They are a result of cross breed between a Beagle and a Cocker Spaniel purebreds.

They are medium sized dogs with face like a Beagle and general appearance like a Cocker Spaniel. They are loveable dogs.

Color

The Beakers come in different colours. Most common are tri-colored with spots or dark chocolate brown with or without white spots.

Coat

The coat is short, silky, smooth and velvety to touch and is weather proof.

Personality

Though they are loveable dogs, it should be taken into consideration that they are not suitable for families with small children. They make good dogs when they are with adults rather then when they are with children. They have certain Cocker Spaniel traits that may show after the age of 3. They may have sudden 'Spaniel Rage' which can end up in uncalled for circumstances.

Care

Their coat is weather-proof and does not require frequent care. Occasional brushing is enough although some dogs may not like it. Their coat seems to be self-cleaning coat, shedding dirt and debris by itself.

Training

They are not easy to train. They love food and it can be used as reward during their training but caution must be practiced as these Beakers may jump to snatch their food out of your fingers.

Activity

They require lots of exercises and playing opportunities. Daily longish walks twice or thrice is recommended for these dogs.
