Breed Details

General

Afghan Collie is a designers' dog or hybrid dog. It is a cross breed between Affenpinscher and Border collie.

It was used as hunting dog in its native land. It has long body and a shiny coat from head to tail.

Color

These dogs come in various colours; like all shades of grey, reddish brown, slat colour, blue and black.

Coat

The undercoat is dense and wooly; the outer coat is straight, tough, long, and rough.

Personality

The Afghan collie dogs are very cheerful, energetic, clever and high spirited dogs. They are loveable, gentle, social, good companion and eager to learn. They are very friendly and loves people. These breeds are considered good companion and great family dogs.

Care

The hair must be brushed and combed atleast twice a week to avoid tangles. Ears must be kept clean and excessive hair in pads should be removed. These breeds sheds averagely.

Training

They are very intelligent and learn quickly but they must be treated softly and with lots of praise. They will need a firm hand with consistency, patience and gentle with the training.

Activity

The afghan collie dogs love to be taken for long walks although they may adapt themselves to whatever situation they find themselves in. They require an above average exercises to tire them out.
