General

The Ambullneo Mastiff is a large, massive and muscular dog that is a relatively new addition in dog breeds since they are bred in mid 1980's only. It is very graceful and gives impression of strength. The dog is structured for endurance and short bursts of speed.

This dominating dog has a large boxer like head with medium to long muzzle. It has large nose with wide nostrils. The dog displays deep chest and broad shoulder along with thick neck. The over all body structure gives impression of strength and grace. The dog can stand any where from 24 to 29 inches and weigh around 130-150 pounds when fully matured. It is blessed with great night vision and keen hearing sense. The short and thick coat comes in different colours.

This breed has an inherent instinct to be protective of its family. It can spring into action moving all its body weight with knockdown power of a locomotive to overtake and apprehend its rival.

As a family pet, the dog is calm and gentle. It is very alert and attentive to its surroundings and will make a good watch/guard dog. This dog is NOT recognized by AKC however NKC recognizes this dog.

Color

This breed comes in many different colours. It can be seen in colours ranging from rare fawn to shiny pure black. Brindles are common and so are white marks on chest and feet.

Coat

The coat is short, dense, slightly harsh and thick. It is a low maintenance coat since the breed is low shedding.

Personality

The Ambullneo Mastiff was developed for the sole purpose of protecting person and property and it has played its role to perfection. The dog's natural fearsome appearance and inherent protective nature together with a vigilant attitude makes it a perfect guardian for home and property and proves a deterrent for intruders. It has an even temperament when it is with its family. This dog is very gentle and kind with family members including children. It gets along well with other dogs and pets in the family. The dog has a natural eagerness to please its master. Loyal, gentle and dedicated to its owners, the dog is wary of strangers. Early age socialization with people and places is necessary for this dog. The dog is not a frequent or habitual barker. It will only bark to signal something unusual around its surroundings. This intelligent dog breed is sensitive to tone of voice and should be spoken to in an assertive but not harsh voice. It does need an owner who can establish himself as dog's packleader. The Ambullneo Mastiff dog is a great family pet as well as a very strong, robust and loyal protector and guardian dog.

Care

The coat requires minimal grooming. Brushing the coat once a week should be enough. Bathing is required when necessary. The dog's nail should be regularly trimmed. The owner should check its feet as it carries heavy weight.

Training

This highly intelligent dog is very trainable as it loves to please the owner. It should be trained in an assertive and not harsh manner. The dog is sensitive to voice tone. This dog is not at all difficult to train.

Activity

This dog is not as energetic as some of the other dogs but it does need regular daily walks to release its physical and mental energy. The dog is ideally suited to homes with a yard as it enjoys playing and paroling its property. This breed is not suitable for apartment life style.
