General

The Australian Yorkshire Terrier is a designer dog cross between the Australian Shepherd and Yorkshire Terrier. These small dogs are eager to please their owners which makes them a lot easier to take care of. They are great family dogs.

Color

They commonly come in combinations of black and tan, golden, steel blue, blue merle or red merle.

Coat

Their coat is straight, silky, weather resistant, can be grown long or medium in length depending on the preference of the owner.

Personality

The Australian Yorkshire Terrier is affectionate, loving, friendly and loyal to their owner. They can be territorial sometimes, but can be less aggressive when socialized at an early age. With proper guidance, they can establish good relationship with children and other pets raised together with them. They make a great humane companion.

Care

They shed little to none. Minimal brushing and grooming is needed for this breed. Bathing should only be done when necessary. Trimming of their coat can also be good for them to maintain their good looking appearance.

Training

This breed is an intelligent breed and is very easy to train. A firm, fair, gentle and consistent training is needed. Early socialization and obedient training is also advised. They do not respond to harsh approach but they will do well with positive reinforcement.

Activity

This breed will suit in apartment dwelling life. They are naturally active indoors but needs less amount of exercise. They can be easily tired out just by merely playing. They will also do without a yard but if given a space to run around, it will be a bonus for them.
