Breed Details

General

This hybrid is obtained from the cross breed of the Basset Hound and the Shar-Pei purebreds. Sometimes called HIPPO HEAD, this breed is medium size. They are loving and loyal but fairly laid back and enjoy sleeping all day.

Color

The Ba-Shar usually comes in fawn, cream and brown, can be with white markings on their chest or none at all.

Coat

The coat of this breed is harsh, dense, water-resistant and short. Like their Chinese Shar-Pei parent, they are also known for having deep wrinkles over the body.

Personality

They are lazy by nature and enjoy relaxing and sleeping all day. They love their family and mingle well with other dogs and pets in the house but they must be socialized with them from childhood. They are intelligent and caring and feel happy when getting attention.

Care

They may become fussy if ignored for a longish time period. Avoid soy products as they might dry out its fur.

Training

They need a firm owner for training although they learn quickly due to their intelligence.

Activity

Mostly they like to just relax and sleep most of the time but also enjoy playing and walking.
