Breed Details
General
The Bernefie dogs are a cross breed between the Bernese Mountain dog and the Newfoundland purebreds. They are large in size and well-muscled displaying a round head and average muzzle. Nose and eyes are black and round.
Color
They come in solid black, solid brown, black and brown, black and white and brown and white.
Coat
The coat is either short or medium and very dense. It is very soft.
Personality
These dogs are extra ordinary intelligent and alert. They make good watchdogs and alert the family if they sense anything unusual. They are loving and like to get attention. They are very gentle and calm dogs that are equally loving to all family members and behave well with other pets in the family. Due to their incredible intelligence, they seem to know how to behave with every individual in the family.
Care
The coat needs thorough brushing atleast once per week to keep it free of debris.
Training
They are very trainable dogs and learn very fast.
Activity
They have high energy levels and need to be kept busy both physically and mentally to keep their energies to work. Regular exercise routines and playing opportunities should be provided for these dogs.
