General
The Border Sheepdog is a designer dog cross between the Border Collie and Shetland Sheepdog. These sweet, charming and intelligent dogs are best as family dog. They love to please their owners and enjoys whenever given the attention they wanted. They make a wonderful humane companion.
Color
They usually come in variations of different colors. Some come in combinations of black, blue, Merle and different shades of sable marked with white and tan. Others have white markings or patches in the body.
Coat
The coat of this breed is long, straight and harsh to touch. It is thick, double coated and weather resistant to protect the dog from other elements.
Personality
The Border Sheepdog is a sweet, affectionate, charming, fun-loving and playful breed. They are friendly to family members and even great with children and other pets raised with them. These breeds are very attentive, energetic and are great barkers despite their size. They alarm their owners whenever they sense strangers and other mysterious noises. They make a wonderful family dog.
Care
The Border Sheepdogs are average shedders and would require a moderate brushing and grooming maintenance to keep their coat good looking and to always keep them clean. Bathing should be done when necessary using a mild soap or hypoallergenic to refrain possible skin irritations and allergies.
Training
These breeds are highly intelligent and very easy to train. They will require a training with a firm hand, fair, gentle and consistent. Socialization and obedience training is best to be given at an early age.
Activity
These breeds are playful, lively and normally active indoors. They perfectly suit in an apartment dwelling life. Moderate exercise is needed to burn off their energies.
