Breed Details
General
The Box-a-Shar is a cross between a purebred Boxer and a purebred Chinese Shar Pei. These dogs are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
They are medium size dogs that are alert, intelligent, loyal and social. They are found in different colours and can have a coat type similar to any of the parent breed.
Color
Common colours for these dogs are black, brown and red or any mix of these colours.
Coat
They have a short to medium size fine coat that needs moderate grooming. They may have any of Shar-Pei's three types of coats.
Personality
These dogs are very loyal, gentle and affectionate. They are very good with children and other dogs and pets in the family. These gentle and even-tempered dogs are protective of their family and will make good watch dogs due to their alert and attentive nature. The Box-a-Shar dogs are moderately active and will need fair amount of physical activities and daily walks to be happy and content. They are great watch/guard dogs that make very loving, faithful and devoted family pets.
Care
The coat needs grooming as per the coat type.
Training
Though intelligent and tractable, these dogs do have a tendency to be independent and head-strong. They should be trained with positive reinforcement training technique as it will best suit their temperament.
Activity
The Box-a-Shar dogs will need daily walks and some playing time to satisfy their working breed instincts.
