Breed Details

General

The Chestie dogs are resulted by cross breeding of the Chihuahua and the West Highland White Terrier purebreds and are called hybrid dogs. These hybrids are loving, playful and very intelligent. They are small size dogs and weigh around 5-7 pounds. They inherit white lineage from the Westie heritage and eyes and ears from Chihuahua heritage. They are good family pets.

Color

They are found in black coat colouring with white under coat and white paws and sometimes in brown colour.

Coat

The coat of this breed is short, smooth to touch, silky and double layered.

Personality

They are very active, loving and lively dogs. They are very playful and highly intelligent dogs as well. These qualities make them great family pets and companion dogs. The Chestie dogs love to be loved and are great with small children, other dogs and pets in the family.

Care

They require weekly grooming.

Training

Their high level of intelligence makes them quick and fast learners. They may show some wilfulness but that should be dealt with consistent and firm training.

Activity

These small lap dogs require moderate amount of exercise every day. Regular walks should keep them happy.
