Breed Details

General

The chipit is a mix between a purebred Chihuahua and a purebred American PitBull Terrier. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

These dogs are small in size with an average height and weight of 12-18 inches and 15-45 pounds. These dogs are intelligent, loyal and very lively dogs that require proper socialization and obedience training from puppyhood to avoid future behavioral problems.

Color

They are found in a variety of colours as both parent breeds are multicolor breeds. Some common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, gold, brown and any other colour.

Coat

Their coat is either smooth and glossy like a APBT or they can have one of the two coats of a Chihuahua, either a long coat or a short coat.

Personality

The chipit dogs are very active, lively and loyal to their family. They have a tendency to attach themselves with one person in the family. These dogs need early age socialization to be gentle and patient with children and other house pets. They have a tendency to chase after small animals.

Care

Supervision is must when they are around children.

Training

They are easy to train but may require firm and consistent training sessions.

Activity

Full of energy, these dogs will need daily playing time besides daily walk to relieve their excess energy. They can sport in dog games also.
