Breed Details
General
The Chiribaya Shepherd is a very rare breed that has been used since long as excellent herding dogs. It is native of Peru and its descendents are believed to be found around Ilo, Moquegua. The breed had medium height with long beige coloured hair and short snout. The dog was used as an excellent herding dog by shepherds of Chiribaya. These farmers and shepherds lived from 900 A.D to 1350 A.D. and they were so loving to this dog that they honored the dogs by building pet cemeteries for them where the dogs were put under blanket when it died.
