Breed Details
General
The Chiweenie dogs are a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund purebreds. They are small size dogs standing no more than 12 inches. Their body is Dachshund type long and narrow. They have long ears that are broad at the base, pointy and very prominent. The eyes are round and dark in colour having expression of intelligence.
Color
They are found in host of colours. Some common colours for these Chiweenies are solid black to solid brown through to Merle, parti and tri- colours, tan and black and brindle colours.
Coat
Their coat is usually short to medium in length and it is glossy and silky to touch.
Personality
The Chiweenies inherit best personality traits from both parent breeds. They are loving, social, funny and amusing dogs who likes to be around you all the time. They love to be loved and will require lots of time. They are great lapdogs. The Chiweenies are very good with children also. They need early socialization with other pets in the house then they get along well with them. These dogs are very easy going and fun dogs to have as family pets.
Care
They may have hunting instincts and should be supervised when around rodent like pets or they may harm them. These dogs should be trained not to jump off of the furniture otherwise they may have spinal problems.
Training
They are difficult to housetrain. They will require lots of consistent training. The training should start as soon as possible.
Activity
They are very active and high energy dog breed that requires sufficient time playing and doing something they love to burn up their energy levels. Regular walk and playing sessions are recommended for these dogs.
