Breed Details
General
The Chizer is a mix breed dog that is produced by cross breeding of Chihuahua and Miniature Schnauzer purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs and display characteristics of their parent breeds. They are small dogs with large ears. The legs are square with a level back. They have docked tails and are stronger than they appear.
Color
The Chizer dogs are found in a variety of colours. Common colours are black, white, tan, brown and gray.
Coat
Their coat can be short or long depending up on which parent gene is dominant. It is soft on head but a little coarse on the body.
Personality
These little hybrids are very playful and energetic dogs. They follow their owner or other family members everywhere. They are bold and protective of their family. They may need training from puppyhood to curb their nipping instinct. Supervision is needed when they are around small children. They are not suitable with families with small children if they are not properly trained. They may show aggressive behavior towards other pets and dogs in the family if they are not socialized with them from the start. They are ideal dogs for single owners or families without small children. They make great companion dogs.
Care
Care should be exercised when they are around other pets and small children. The Chi's bossy behavior may cause harm to them or other pets.
Training
They are not easy to train. They may show stubborn behavior but should be dealt with firm and consistent training.
Activity
They are very energetic dogs and do require lots of activity indoor and outdoor. They require regular walking and playing sessions to use their stored energy.
