General

The Cockeranian dogs are hybrid dogs that are a result of purebred Cocker Spaniel and purebred Pomeranian. The Cockeranian dogs are small to medium in size. They are alert, social and loyal dogs. They have features of both parent breeds. They are good with children and make good family pets.

Color

They are commonly found in black and white but light brown with black marking dogs are also seen.

Coat

Their upper coat is coarse while undercoat is soft.

Personality

These dogs are sensitive, friendly and excited. They are loveable dogs due to their sometimes mischievous behavior. They are clever dogs that are alert to their surroundings and would alert the family of any unusual change. They are good with children and other pets in the family but early socialization is needed. They are eager to please dogs.

Care

The Cockeranian needs grooming every 2 months and bath every one or two weeks. They are heavy or light shedders depending which parent gene is dominant. Regular brushing is needed for these dogs.

Training

They are not difficult to train but would need consistent training. They may show stubborn behavior that needs to be addressed with firm and consistent training with owner establishing himself as pack leader.

Activity

They are active dogs that need lots of physical exercise opportunities. They are agile, strong, fast runners and have good stamina.
