Breed Details

General

The Corillon dogs are hybrid dogs that are produced by cross breeding of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Papillon purebreds. They have slightly round and short head with a short and tapered muzzle. They have distinctively large ears like a butterfly. They resemble Papillon in carrying their tail high over the body. They are small dogs standing around 8 to 13 inches and weighing in between 10-25 pounds. They have a very expressive face.

They are loving and affectionate dogs.

Color

They are commonly available in various shades of brown, black and white. Some less common colours for these dogs can be shades of red, black and tan and silver.

Coat

Their coat can be either short or long and silky.

Personality

They are very loving dogs and sometimes overly affectionate. These dogs are friendly, happy and adventurous. They are specially friendly and affectionate towards children and other dogs and pets in the family. They may have protective traits of the Corgi and may turnout to be nuisance for apartment life as they will bark on any sound if not properly trained. They are very playful but alert dogs and would caution the family of any unusual activity around them. The Corillon dogs may try to be dominant if they are not trained properly from puppy hood. They are very intelligent dogs and would respond well to firm and consistent training sessions. They are very loving dogs and a fun to have as family pets.

Care

They may require regular grooming and brushing to keep their coat shiny and dirt free.

Training

Being highly intelligent dogs, the Corillons will learn fast. They are easy to train dogs provided their dominant trait is dealt with firm and consistent training.

Activity

They require moderate level of exercises. A daily walk should be enough for their exercise needs.
