The Dach-Griffon is a mix breed that is a result of cross breeding between a Dachshund and a Brussels Griffon purebreds. They are also called designer dogs or hybrid dogs. They are small to medium in size. They stand around 8-18 inches and weigh in between 10-28 pounds. They have a Dachshund longer body with short legs. They are alert, cheerful, courageous, loyal, social and intelligent. They are found in many colours and have dense, wiry and rough coat.
The Dach-Griffon dogs are found in black, black and tan, brown and red colours.
Their coat is dense, fine, wiry and rough.
The parent breeds of these hybrids are not very suitable for families with small children. These hybrids are very loving and affectionate but they tend to stick to their owners. Also they may have hounding instincts of the Dachshunds that will make these dogs to chase other small pets and dogs. They would need supervision when around children. They will bond themselves with the owner more than other members of the family. They can be good dogs for families with older children or single owners.
They may require normal grooming and regular brushing to keep their coat clean and free of debris.
They are intelligent dogs and may not be difficult to train although they may show stubborn and willful behavior of the Dachshunds. In such circumstances, they would require firm and consistent training sessions where the owner needs to establish himself as the pack leader.
These dogs are active and lively and would require ample exercise and playing times. They would need regular walks and running games to keep them happy.
