Breed Details
General
The Englian Mastiff dogs are a cross between two large dog breeds, an English Mastiff and a Neapolitan Mastiff. The resultant hybrid is a large dog. They stand up to 37 inches and weigh anywhere between 170-250 pounds. They have features and characteristics of both parent breeds.
The Englian Mastiff dogs are large dogs yet they make good family pets and excellent guard dogs. They are alert, loyal, highly intelligent, patient with children and family oriented dogs.
Color
They are found in black, black and tan, red, brown, gray and silver colours.
Coat
Their coat is short. It can be fine or rough.
Personality
The Englian Mastiff dogs are very loyal and protective dogs. They are loving and affectionate and highly intelligent dogs that are good with all family members. Due to their protective nature, they are wary of strangers and will need early obedience training and socialization training. They are very efficient guard dogs. They may alert the family of an intruder or they may follow and pin the intruder and then alert the family. They are very good and patient with children although supervision is necessary as these large dogs are not aware of their own size. Also, children friends are also children and they are always wary of strangers. This can potentially lead to disastrous situation. These dogs may show willful behavior and would require gentle, loving and positive techniques to get them out of their willful behavior. These large dogs are not for first time owners. But for those who have them, they are like giant teddy Bears.
Care
Care should be taken in their obedience training and socialization as these dogs are by nature wary of strangers. They need to learn to distinguish between an enemy and a guest.
Training
These highly intelligent dogs are very fast and quick learners but they would require gentle, rewarding and positive training techniques.
Activity
The Englian Mastiff dogs are not very active and would not require extra exercise routines other than regular normal walks.
