Breed Details

General

The French Bull Weiner is a mix between a purebred Dachshund and a purebred French Bulldog. They are called hybrid dogs as they originate from cross breeding of two different pure breeds. These dogs have features and characteristics of both parent breeds.

The French Bull Weiner dogs are small in size, standing not more than 17 inches and weighing around 15-30 pounds. They are courageous, cheerful, loyal and social dogs. They are sweet, playful and loving dogs that enjoy human company. They may show stubborn behavior occasionally. These dogs may not be suitable for families with small children.

Color

The French Bull Weiner dogs are found in different colours like black, black and tan, brown, red and white or a mix of these colours.

Coat

As one of the parent breed, the Dachshund, has three types of coats, the resulting hybrid can also have any of the three types of coats. Type one is short hair smooth coat, type two is long hair coat, and type three is wiry coat.

Personality

The French Bull Weiner dogs are friendly and loyal and they love human companionship. They are very loyal to their owners but very wary of strangers. They are active, lively and friendly dogs but can show stubborn behavior from time to time. They may have more of Dachshund aggressive traits that will make them unsuitable for small children as the Dachshund like to chase small, fast moving objects and are very wary of strangers. These dogs need early socialization training towards children and other dogs to keep their instinctive traits under control. When properly trained, these dogs should get along fine with children and other dogs in the family. They may or may not have loud bark but they will make very good watch/guard dogs.

Care

Care should be taken when these dogs are around small children and specially unfamiliar children as they may behave undesirably towards them.

Training

They are intelligent dogs and can be trained but these dogs may show stubborn and wilfull behaviour. In such cases, they would need firm and consistent training where the owner needs to stablish himself as pack leader.

Activity

These dogs need moderate level of exercises.
