Breed Details
General
The Frenchie-Pei is a mix of a French Bulldog and a Chinese Shar Pei purebreds. They are called hybrid or designer dogs because they originate from two different pure breeds.
The Frenchie-Pei dogs have small body, not standing more than 17 inches and weighing in the range of 30-40 pounds. They have compact body. Their ears are similar to French Bulldog. They have blueish purple tongue and medium length snout. They have short, coarse coat like a Shar Pei or long and softer coat of a French Bulldog.
The Frenchie-Pei dogs are loving, loyal, bold and independent dogs. They are very protective of their family and make good family and watch dogs.
Color
The Frenchie-Pei dogs mostly inherit colours from Shar-Pei. Some common colours for these dogs are black, brown, red and white. Some are also found in fawn, sand, cream and blue colouring.
Coat
They can have a Shar-pie coat that is short and coarse or they can have French Bulldog coat that is long and soft to touch.
Personality
The Frenchie-Pei dogs are loyal, alert, protective, cheerful and sweet. They are very loyal to their family. These hybrids get along well with all family members provided that family members do not let them be willful. These hybrids get along well with children, other dogs and pets in the family if early socialization and training is provided. They like to be around their family and enjoy human companionship. They are very protective of their family and wary of strangers hence make very good watch dogs.
Care
Their coat needs to be brushed regularly. These dogs need bath once a month. Cleaning folds between the skins is important to prevent infection.
Training
They are intelligent but independent and willful dogs and would need firm but gentle and consistent training sessions and a patient and dominant owner.
Activity
The Frenchie-Pei dogs need moderate level of exercises as they are low-endurance dog breed.
