General

The Gerberian Shepsky dogs are a mix between a Siberian Husky and a German Shepherd purebreds. They are called hybrid or designer dogs because they originate from two different pure breeds.

The Gerberian Shepsky dogs are alert, intelligent, loyal and social dogs. They have common features and characteristics of both parent breeds.

They are loyal and protective dogs that get along well with all ages if they are properly socialized. They make very good family, watch and guard dogs.

Color

The common colours for these dogs are a mix of parent breed coat colours like blue, black, red, gray and white or a mix of these colours.

Coat

They have a double coat. The outer coat is medium to long in length with thick hair and the inner coat is soft and dense. The coats protect these dogs from extreme hot or cold weathers.

Personality

The Gerberian Shepsky dogs are intelligent and loving dogs who are loyal to their family. As like any dog, they need early socialization training with children and other dogs for proper family pet behaviors. They are wary of strangers and are good watch and guard dogs. These hybrids are protective of their families and sometimes, can become over protective. They bond themselves with their family. These dogs are high energy and active dogs and like to learn or have a purpose all the time. They are very good family pets with proper socialization with children and other pets in the family.

Care

The Gerberian Shepsky dogs require regular brushing of their coat as they are moderate shedders.

Training

With high intelligence, these dogs are very trainable but due to their independent behavior, they would require gentle, rewarding and purposeful training sessions and a patient owner.

Activity

They are very active and would need space to run. Daily leash walk is also necessary for these dogs.
