General
The German Sheprador is a mix breed obtained by crossing a purebred German Shepherd with a purebred Labrador Retriever. They are referred to as hybrid dogs due to their origin from two different pure breeds.
These dogs are large in size, standing up to 27 inches from withers and weighing up to 88 pounds. They are alert, loyal, social and intelligent dogs that get along well with all members of the family.
Color
This dog breed is found in many colours but some common colours are black, blue, brown, red, white and yellow.
Coat
They can have German Shepherd double coat with outer being dense while inner coat is thick and soft or they may have Labrador coat that is short and dense with water-repellent hair.
Personality
The German Sheprador dogs are alert, loyal, social, cheerful, intelligent and playful. They are very loyal to their family and love spending time with them. They are very gentle, patient and affectionate towards children and enjoy playing with them. They love and need human interaction. They are highly intelligent dogs and very fast learners. They are generally obedient to their owners. They can get along very well with other pets and dogs in the family if properly trained from early age. They do not like to be left alone for extended periods of time and may suffer from separation anxiety. Their alertness and attentiveness makes them very good watch and guard dogs. These dogs are kind and even-tempered and regarded as excellent family dogs.
Care
They are average to moderate shedding dogs and would require regular brushing and average grooming.
Training
Being highly intelligent, these dogs can learn very fast. They can learn new tricks in very short periods of time. They newer get bored from training as long as it is innovative and rewarding.
Activity
This dog breed is highly active and full of energy and would require opportunities to relieve their energies. Lots of physical and mental stimulation is necessary to keep these dogs from boredom.
