General
The Golden Newfie is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Newfoundland purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs as they originate from cross breeding of two different pure breeds.
These dogs are medium to small in size and can be 30 inches high. They can weigh 150 pounds. They are large dogs that are alert, courageous, loyal, social and intelligent. They are found in different colours. These large size dogs are good family pets.
Color
They are found in black, brown, red, gray and yellow colours.
Coat
They have a double coat that is either medium length and wavy from outer side and dense from inner side or they have a coat that is rough on top and soft on inner side.
Personality
The Golden Newfie dogs are very loving, intelligent, loyal and affectionate dogs. They have all the best characteristics of their parent breeds. They are very obedient and eager to please dogs. They are good with all ages but specially good and gentle with children. They get along very well with other dogs and pets in the family. They are very social dogs and love to be around their family most of the time. They thrive for human attention. They are very brave and courageous dogs and very cheerful and playful. They are not hostile towards strangers; rather friendly and calm. They are good watchdogs and excellent family pets.
Care
Their coat may require frequent grooming and brushing every 2-4 days. Bathe them only when needed.
Training
They are intelligent and obedient dogs and training them is not very difficult although the owner has to be patient and firm, not to mention consistent with training.
Activity
These dogs require moderate amount of exercise and play time. Long daily walks and play time of 1-2 hours is necessary for this dog breed.
