Breed Details

General

The Havachin is a cross between a purebred Havanese and a purebred Japanese Chin. They are referred to as hybrids or designer dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The Havachin dogs are small in size, standing not more than 12 inches and weighing around 8-18 pounds. These dogs are intelligent, alert, social, loyal, responsive and cheerful. They are found in different colours and make good family dogs.

Color

The Havachin dogs are found in different colours. Some common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, blue, brown, gray, silver and white or a mix of these colours.

Coat

These hybrids can have a long, soft, silky and lightweight coat of a Havanese or they may have a single and fine coat of a Japanese Chin or a mix of these two coats.

Personality

The Havachin dogs are very human loving and affectionate. They love to spend their time with their family and enjoy their company. These dogs are very cheerful and entertaining. They like to be loved and eager to please their owners. They will do things and tricks to please their family. These little cute dogs do not necessarily need constant human company and can enjoy by themselves. They are self-entertaining dogs and do not mind if kept outside although they would like to be inside if given a choice. These dogs are very gentle and loving to children and love to play with them. They get along well with other pets and dogs in the house. They are good and well-behaved with guests. The Havachin dogs are not noisy and will only bark to alert their family of any approaching stranger or of any thing out of the ordinary. These dogs are very good family, companion and watchdogs.

Care

Their can have long or short coat. With long coat, they will need to be brushed every day to keep the coat clean. Shorter coats are low maintenance and do not require special care. They would need to be bathed when needed.

Training

The Havachin dogs are fairly intelligent and would not be difficult to train although they may need consistent and firm training routines.

Activity

The Havachin dogs require average amount of exercise and a daily walk with some indoor play should take care of their exercise need for the day.
