General
The Havamalt is a mix of a purebred Havanese and a purebred Maltese dog. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
The Havamalt is small in size, standing about 8-12 inches and weighing around 10-17 pounds. These dogs are cheerful, intelligent, loyal, social, alert and responsive. They are sweet little dogs that are good for families with small children.
These dogs have a coat that is hypoallergenic and best suited for persons who are allergic to dogs. These hybrids are found in different colours.
Color
The Havamalt dogs are found in a variety of colours. Some common colours for these dogs are black, blue, brown, gray, red, silver and white and any mix of these colours.
Coat
Their coat is long and silky from outside and rough from inside.
Personality
The Havamalt dogs are sweet little dogs. They are loyal and alert but social. They like to be with their family most of the time but will not suffer if left alone or kept outside as they are very self-entertaining. They develop a strong bond with their owner and are very loving. These dogs are very good play mates for children, showing gentle and loving behavior towards them. They are also good with other dogs and pets in the family. They are not noisy dogs and will only bark to alert their owner of some thing out of the ordinary. They will alert their family of an approaching stranger. These dogs require moderate level of exercise and will do well with a daily walk. These dogs are very good family and companion as well as watch dogs.
Care
Their coat can be clipped for easy maintenance. If left to grow, the coat will need to be brushed and combed regularly.
Training
These dogs are fairly intelligent and will learn easily. They are easy to train with gentle and firm training routines.
Activity
These dogs will need moderate level of exercise. A daily walk should take care of their exercise needs.
