Breed Details

General

The Havashire is the result of cross breeding between purebred Havanese and purebred Yorkshire Terrier. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The Havashire is a small size breed, standing not more than 12 inches and weighing in between 8 to 15 pounds. These little hybrids are alert, intelligent, cheerful and social dogs. They are not very noisy and will bark only to alert the owner of something unusual.

These hybrids are found in different colours. They make good family dogs.

Color

The Havashire can be found in a variety of colours like black, brown, blue, tan, gray, silver and white or a mix of these colours.

Coat

They can have a long and silky coat of a Havanese or a short and rough coat of a Yorkie.

Personality

The Havashire dogs are friendly, loyal and affectionate dogs. They may be over protective of their family but with proper training, this behavior can be controlled. These hybrids are very good with children and elderly. They are also good with other dogs and pets in the family. These little dogs love to be loved. They are very good watch dogs as they are alert and will bark to signal the arrival of an stranger. These dogs may need persistent and patient training as they may be a bit hard to train. The Havashire dogs will require moderate amount of exercise and a daily walk should be enough to take care of their exercise needs.

Care

Their coat may require moderate to high grooming and brushing.

Training

Being a little bit of independent nature, some of these hybrids may not be as easy to train as some other dog breeds. They will need consistent and patient trainer to train them.

Activity

These dogs do not require lots of physical activity outdoors as they are very active indoors. A daily walk is enough for these hybrids to keep them fit and happy.
