General

The Hush Basset is a mix between a Basset Hound and a Cocker Spaniel purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The Hush Basset dogs are smallish in size, standing not more than 16 inches and weighing in between 40 to 60 pounds. They are short legged dogs with a round head and expressive eyes. The long ears hang loose.

Color

The Hush Basset dogs are found in different parent breed colours like black, black and tan, blue, brown, red, gray and white or a mix of these colours.

Coat

These dogs have thick and silky body coat.

Personality

The Hush Basset dogs are friendly, loving and loyal. They are good with children and other pets in the family. They like to play with children. They are social and mix up well with strangers. They have a musical bark that they use when they want something or to alert the family of something unusual. They are scent dogs and would try to locate any thing that smells. They need daily walk with a leash. These dogs fit well into an apartment life. They are very good family pets.

Care

Their coat will require moderate grooming and brushing every 3-6 days.

Training

They are easy to train dogs as they are obedient and follow the instructions of the owner. They will excel to firm but gentle training sessions.

Activity

The Hush Basset dogs are moderately active. They will need a leash walk to stay fit and balance.
