Breed Details

General

The Huskita is a mix between a Siberian Husky and an Akita Inu purebreds. They are called hybrids due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The Huskita dogs are medium to large size and can stand up to 26 inches. Their weight can be in the range of 70 to 120 pounds. They are strong and well built dogs with features of both parent breeds.

Color

These hybrids are found in different colours that are a mix of their parent colours. Common colours for these dogs are black, gray, red and white or any mix of these colours.

Coat

Their coat is usually, dense, rough and thick with water-repellent hair.

Personality

The Huskita dogs are friendly, loving, and devoted. They are affectionate with their family but aloof towards strangers, however, with proper introduction, they can become social with them. These dogs are good with children but supervision is needed when playing with children. The Huskita dogs are alert and attentive to their surroundings and will make very good watch dogs. They need constant obedience training. They may not be suitable for first time owners as they respond well to the owner who knows how to handle this large dog. These dogs will need proper socialization with other pets and specially dogs in the family. They may show dominance towards other dogs if not properly trained. These dogs, when properly trained, will make very good family and watchdogs for an experienced owner.

Care

Their coat sheds little and will require average grooming.

Training

These hybrids are easy to train provide the handler shows patience and true packleader skills.

Activity

These dogs need moderate level of exercise. These dogs would ideally need a large space to play but can fit into a small house or apartment if proper exercise is provided to them. Lack of exercise may result in undesirable behavior from these dogs.
