General
The Irish Dane is a mix between a Great Dane and an Irish Wolfhound purebreds. They are also called 'Great Wolfhound'. The Irish Dane is a hybrid dog, resulting from cross breeding of two different pure breeds.
The Irish Dane is a large dog, standing no less than 32-38 inches and weighing 100-150 pounds. These large dogs are alert and loyal to their family.
Color
The Irish Wolfhounds are found in different colours that their parents exhibit. Common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, blue, brown, red, gray and white.
Coat
The Irish Dane can have a smooth and short coat of a Great Dane or medium and rough coat of an Irish Wolfhound.
Personality
The Irish Danes are gentle, loving, affectionate and loyal to their family. They are eager to please their owners. These dogs are patient and gentle with children. Playful and intelligent, they make good playmates for children. The Irish Danes are obedient and human loving dogs. They want to be with their family most of the time. These dogs are easy to train. They are not noisy dogs and get along well with other pets in the family. They are not aggressive towards strangers but will bark to alert the family of an strangers' arrival. These dogs need high quality food as they grow very fast. These dogs would need large space for exercise. They may fit into an apartment life but a house with a large yard would be ideal for them.
Care
There are some points that have to be kept in mind when adopting these hybrids. They should be taught NOT TO JUMP OR LEAN due to their giant size. They should not be exercised hard as they have a tendency to develop joint problems.
Training
These hybrids are easy to train and will learn quickly with love and food rewarding training sessions.
Activity
These large dogs need to run and exercise a lot. They would need same amount of exercise as other medium size dogs.
