General

The Jack-A-Poo is a cross between a purebred Jack Russell Terrier and a purebred Poodle. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The Jack-A-Poo is small to medium size dog that stands 15 inches or more and weigh up to 50 pounds. These hybrids are loving, cheerful, happy and family oriented and make good family pets. The Jack-A-Poo resembles a Jack Terrier in body structure and have characteristics of both parent breeds.

Color

The Jack-A-Poo is found in many different colours, mostly from Poodle side. Common colours for these dogs are white, black, blue, gray, silver, brown, tan and any mix of these colours.

Coat

Their coat can be short and coarse like a Jack Russell or it can be fluffy, soft and curly like a Poodle.

Personality

The Jack Russell and Poodle mix gives an excellent family pet in the form of Jack-A-Poo. These dogs are loving, affectionate, loyal, playful, cheerful, lively and very active. They are alert and attentive to their surroundings and can make good watch dogs. These dogs are very good with children and show gentleness and patience towards them. They can get along well with other dogs and pets in the family after necessary socialization and training. These dogs are very active and need lots of exercise in the form of daily long walks and running. They can fit into an apartment life if their exercise needs are met. Lack of proper exercise may result in destructive behavior from these dogs. The Jack-A-Poo dogs love human company and are happy to spend time with their family. They are very good family pets.

Care

Their Poodle like coat requires occasional brushing. Their Jack Russell like coat will need regular brushing and occasional grooming.

Training

They are intelligent dogs that are easy to train with love and food reward based training.

Activity

These hybrids are very active and need daily exercise, walks and running. They are ideal for a family with a yard in the house but can also fit into apartment life so long their exercise needs are fulfilled.
