General
The Jack-A-Ranian is a mix between a purebred Jack Russell Terrier and a purebred Pomeranian. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
The Jack-A-Ranian is a small dog that stands up to 15 inches and weigh in the region of 6 to 14 pounds. They are like a Jack Russell Terrier in facial and body structure but have characteristics of both parent breeds.
Color
The Jack-A-Ranian is found in different colours such as white, black, brown, red, orange, silver and gray or a mix of these colours.
Coat
They have thick double coat that saves these dogs from extreme weather.
Personality
The Jack-A-Ranians are friendly and lively dogs that are loving and protective of their family. These dogs love to be around their owners most of the time and enjoy their company. They like to get attention of their family. These hybrids are very good and gentle with small children. They get along well with other dogs and pets in the family after necessary socialization. The Jack-A-Ranian dogs are very active and playful. They need daily physical activities to keep their energy levels under control and dog from undesirable behavior due to lack of proper exercise. These dogs ideally need a yard to play and run but can live in a small house or apartment with proper exercise. The Jack-A-Ranians are alert and have a tendency to bark at any change in the surroundings. They would need proper training NOT to bark on any outside noise, specially when living in an apartment otherwise, they can become noisy dogs. They, however, will make good watch dogs. The Jack-A-Ranians are intelligent and loving dogs that make good family pets.
Care
Their excessive barking should be controlled through proper training. Their coat is high maintenance and will need to be brushed regularly.
Training
Training is easy as these dogs are very eager to learn new things. These intelligent and eager to learn dogs are easy to train.
Activity
Daily long walks and playing time is very necessary for these dogs to relieve their high energy. They will become destructive and unpredictable if they are not exercised properly.
