General
The Jaland is a mix between a Japanese Chin and a West Highland White Terrier purebreds. These dogs are called hybrids or designer dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
These dogs are small in size, standing not more than 11 inches and weighing between 6 to 20 pounds. They are alert, cheerful and loyal dogs. They resemble more to the parent Toy Fox Terrier in their facial features.
Color
These hybrids are found in black, white and black and tan colours or any mix of these colours.
Coat
The breed can have soft, dense and thick under coat and a rough outer coat like a Toy Fox Terrier or they can have single and fine coat of a Chin.
Personality
The Jaland dogs are loyal and devoted to their owners. They are generally good with children if handled with care. They can not tolerate rough handling and may become aggressive if subjected to rough handling such as pulling on ears. These dogs have a tendency to be possessive of their food and toys. They however, are very social dogs and get along well with other pets and family. They like to be with their family most of the time, fulfilling their companion dog instincts. They are alert and attentive to their surroundings and make good watch dogs. These dogs need proper socialization and obedience training from early puppyhood to learn to be good with all ages. They are active and lively dogs that need physical and mental stimulation to be happy. They like to go on daily walks and play with their family. These dogs are good family pets and watchdogs.
Care
Supervision is necessary when these dogs are with children. Children should be taught not to rough-handle these dogs and be careful and gentle with them when playing.
Training
The Jaland dogs are not difficult to train if the trainer shows true pack leader qualities.
Activity
These dogs like to be taken for daily walks as well as they need playing opportunities to relieve their energy.
