General

The Jarkie is a cross between a Japanese Chin and a Yorkshire Terrier purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

These hybrids are small in size and stand no more than 11 inches. They can weigh up to 20 pounds. The Jarkie dogs are alert, cheerful, and loyal. They are a mix of facial features of their parent breeds.

Color

These hybrids are found in different colours that their parent breeds exhibit. These colours include black, black and tan, blue and white or any mix of these colours.

Coat

Their coat is fine, smooth and silky and it is a mix of parent breed coats.

Personality

The Jarkie dogs are loving and affectionate. They are very family oriented and love spending time with the family. These dogs love to get attention and like to be with their family most of the time. They are sturdy little dogs that can be will-full and stubborn when it comes to training. The Jarkie dogs are very good and affectionate with children and other dogs and pets in the family. They may bark excessively due to their over protective nature but can be trained not to do so. They however, can make excellent watch dogs as they will alert the family if any stranger is coming near. These dogs need moderate level of exercise and daily long walks to keep fit and balance.

Care

The Jarkie dogs may be sensitive to cold weather and should not be left outside in cold temperatures for too long. Their coat needs moderate to regular grooming.

Training

The Jarkie dogs will need to be trained with patience and persistence. They are independent dogs that can think on their own. This makes them a little harder to train. This behavior can be overcome by patient and persistent training.

Activity

These dogs like to go on walks. Most of their exercise needs are full filled in indoor activities but they still need to walk to satisfy their primal walking instincts.
