Breed Details

General

The King Schnauzer is a mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature Schnauzer purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.

The King Schnauzer is a small size dog that stands no more than 14 inches and can weigh around 20 pounds. They are very athletic and well developed dogs with straight strong legs and well proportioned body. They have a long and rough outer coat and thick inner coat.

Color

The King Schnauzer dogs are found in a variety of colours which can range from salt and pepper to black and white, parti coloured or white with black,brown or red.

Coat

They have a double coat that is long and rough from outside and thick from inner side.

Personality

The King Schnauzer dogs are happy and fun loving. They are family oriented and want to spend most of their time with them. They do not like to be alone. These dogs are very well behaved with children and can get along well with other dogs and pets in the family. They do have hunting instinct and can run after small animals like rodents, rats so keeping them on a leash or in a fenced yard is recommended. The King Schnauzer dogs are very docile and obedient. They can be trained to perform in agility, obedience and other dogs sports. They are alert dogs that make very good watch dogs. These hybrids are very good family pets, companion dogs and watch dogs.

Care

Their coat should be brushed with short bristled brush to keep the coat clean. They would need brushing every other day.

Training

These dogs are easy to train as they are highly intelligent and love to please the owner. Despite that, some dogs may show stubborn behavior which should be tackled with consistent and firm yet gentle training. They are trainable to the extent that they can perform in dog sports with proper training.

Activity

The King Schnauzers are active dogs that need running and playing opportunities to keep fit and relieve their energy. They can become good jogging partners.
