The Miniature Schnaupin is a mix between a purebred Miniature Schnauzer and a purebred Pinscher. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
They are small size dogs with an average height of 12-14 inches and weight in between 10 to 20 pounds. These dogs are alert, loyal, docile, intelligent and eager to please. They are sturdy dogs who are found in different colours.
They are good watch dogs and are good pets to have as family pets.
They are found in different colours. Most common colours for these dogs are black, blue, red, chocolate, fawn, silver and white or any mix of these colours.
They have short and smooth or wiry top coat and soft under coat. Their coat is low shedding.
The Miniature Schnaupin dogs are alert, intelligent, loyal and high spirit as well as assertive and outgoing. Being a hybrid, these dogs will have a mix set of characteristics from both parent breeds. From Schnauzer side, they can inherit gentle, loyal, friendly and intelligent nature while from Min Pin side, they can have assertive and outgoing nature. Generally, these dogs are good for families with older children however they can be good with small children as well if trained and socialized well from puppyhood. They are loyal to their family and wary of strangers thus make excellent watch dogs. These dogs are noisy and will bark excessively if not properly trained. They are highly playful and very agile dogs that need fair amount of physical activities. These dogs will ideally need a fenced yard to play and run. They also need firm and dominant owner other wise, they will become willful and try to take over as pack leader.
Their coat is low shedding and requires minimal grooming.
These dogs are intelligent enough to train but they do have an independent and outgoing personality. They will ideally need a firm and patient trainer who can put in hard work and time in training these dogs.
The Miniature Schnaupins will need running and playing time and space to be happy besides daily walks. They are agile and high energy dogs that need physical activities to relieve their energy.
