Breed Details
General
The Minnie Jack is a mix between a purebred Jack Russell Terrier and a purebred Miniature Pinscher. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
The Minnie Jacks are small size dogs with a an average height of 10 to 15 inches and weight around 10 to 16 pounds. They are high energy and very active dogs that need constant stimulation to satisfy their working instincts. They are very intelligent, fear-less and outgoing dogs that sometimes are stubborn. They are not suitable for families with small children as they are not tolerant dog breeds.
These dogs are very agile and will need open space or yard to run and play. They can fit into apartment life if their exercise needs could be fulfilled which is a daunting task as these high energy dogs are still fresh, energetic and ready to go when the owner has called it a day!
Color
They are found in black, brown, red, blue, fawn and white or any mix of these colours.
Coat
They can have a smooth and short coat or a rough coat or a mixture of smooth and rough coat which is called a broken coat.
Personality
The Minnie Jack dogs are not for first time or inexperienced dog owners, neither they are for families with small children. These dogs are full of energy and need to be busy most of the time. They are intelligent, assertive, athletic, fearless, outgoing and active dogs that definitely need spacious house to roam around and play. These dogs are unsuitable for apartment or small house life even if the owner takes them to walks and other activities. Their high energy and drive makes them tireless and fresh to go anytime. These dogs are assertive and out going and need an experienced owner who can dominate himself over these dogs. They are intolerant to rough handling. These dogs are alert and attentive and will make good watch dogs for families with older and considerate children.
Care
Care should be taken if they are playing with small children as they are intolerant of rough handling.
Training
They are very intelligent dogs that love to please their owner and love physical and mental activities. This makes them easy to train but they do have a tendency to be stubborn which calls for a strict trainer who can train these dogs with firm and consistent training sessions.
Activity
The Minnie Jacks are extremely high energy dogs for their size. They are untiring dogs that can exhaust their owner but will stay fresh. They need lots of physical exercise and other physical activities to relieve their high energy to some extent. These dogs are best suited to a large house with a fenced yard where they can run and play as much as they like.
