General
The Pekepoo is a cross between a purebred Pekingese and a purebred Poodle(toy). These dogs are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds.
The Pekepoo is a small sized dog that are very charming, loving and devoted. This breed is intelligent, very human loving and makes very good family and companion dog. The Pekepoos do not like to be ignored or left alone for longer time periods. They are suitable for all family members but specially suited to families with older children. They get along well with other dogs and pets in the family after proper socialization.
The Pekepoo dogs are alert and active. They are wary of strangers and will signal their arrival to their family. The Pekepoo dogs make very good family pets and watch dogs.
Color
They are found in a variety of colors that include white, brown, apricot, gray and black.
Coat
They can have any of a variety of coats. This variation comes from two parent breeds who possess different types of coat. The coat of a Pekepoo can be a double coat with a long outer coat and short and dense inner coat. They can also have a curly coat like a Poodle or a combination of both types of coat, called broken coat.
Personality
The Pekepoo dogs are very cheerful, happy and loving dogs. They are very loyal and devoted dogs that love to be around their family members. These dogs are very human loving and like to spend most of their time in their company. They can become frustrated and then destructive if left alone for longer time periods. These dogs are alert as well as protective of their family. Their wariness towards strangers makes them very good watch dogs as they alert their family of any approaching stranger. The Pekepoo dogs are great family dogs.
Care
They can require daily brushing of their coat or regular clipping depending on coat type. Bath should be given when necessary.
Training
These dogs are intelligent enough to learn fast but they are also stubborn to an extent. They will need consistent training with a firm trainer who uses gentle but firm training methods. Harsh training methods will not work with these dogs.
Activity
The Pekepoo dogs are suitable for apartment living. They would need fair amount of leashed walks, off leash play in the yard and family play sessions.
