Breed Details
General
The Poo-shi breed is a hybrid or designer breed type of dog. It is developed from half Shiba Inu and half Poodle dog breeds. The Poo-shis are also known to be Shibapoo or Shiba-poo.
They are friendly and intelligent in nature. They make wonderful family dogs. They are also very vocal and high energy that they need lots of exercise. They are great watchdogs.
The breed's shaggy and wavy double coated hair shed very little to none. Very suitable for households with allergy issues or does not want to deal with dog hair. This is usually the result from crossing another breed to a Poodle.
Color
The Poo-Shi's coat color is usually White colored but it can also be Golden, Light Brown, White and Brown combination.
Coat
This dog's double coated hair can sometimes be shaggy and wavy which looks like it's wiry in appearance but they are soft to the touch. They shed very lightly to none making them one hypo-allergenic dog. A trait that is usually inherited when a breed is crossed with a Poodle. As it grows in length, it should be cut occasionally and brushed daily to keep it looking beautifully and free from tangles.
Personality
This breed is a friendly, independent and intelligent dog who loves to be around people. They need a lot of socialization with humans as well as other pets. They should never be left alone for any length of time. They are very vocal dogs that they make wonderful watchdogs.
Care
The Poo-Shis need regular grooming as any medium length hair coated dog. Keep their eyes and ears clean daily to avoid staining the coats on their face especially for white colored dogs. Their nails need to be clipped occasionally as well.
Training
This dog can be easy to train for the firm, consistent and strong handler. Housebreaking can be easily a success for these dogs. Socialize this breed early in life as they tend to be quite reserved when it comes to strangers. Proper leadership should be provided by the humans around this dog as they tend to take over leading a household if they are allowed to. When this happens, it should be corrected as early as possible or it could escalate to behavioral problems.
Activity
These dogs are highly active and highly energetic. They need a great amount of exercise daily to drain their energy. They should be fine in an apartment or small space living as long as they are taken to their daily walks.
