Breed Details

Siberian Shibas, also known as the Husky Inu, appears to be a small fox like dog with compact well furred, muscular body, erect ears and brush tail. The gender of these dogs can be easily distinguish by its appearance with males having more masculine coarseness and female having a feminine yet no weakness in structure. The Siberian Shibas have slightly longer body than it is tall.

The Coat of Siberian Shiba comes in red and sesame with black tipped hairs and red background, and black with tan points. Usually they are seen with markings and colors varies from red and white, cooper and white, solid white, black and white, black and white mask, piebald marking, pinto marking which is white background with patches of color on their head and body. They also blaze down to their face in any colors.

Siberian Shiba has a medium in length, double coat with dense undercoat and straight outer coat. The type of coat they have depends on where they live, like when in colder climate they will have a wooly coat and when they're not they can have a shorter coat.

Siberian Shibas are alert, curious, very smart, lively, happy dog. They are attention seekers and can be depressed if they don't get the right amount of attention. They don't like to be left alone and may become destructive at home when bored.

Siberian Shibas highly sheds especially on summer and spring seasons. Brushing and grooming regularly is needed. The health of these dogs must be monitored because they are prone to skin allergies, possible deafness and corneal problems that could lead to blindness.

Training these Siberian Shibas need to be with firmness, consistency, patient and calmness. They can be stubborn at times but with obedience and repetition of the tasks they can follow and be obedient. Learning has to be fun so that they don't get bored and become hard headed.

Siberian Shibas are averagely energetic, lively, fun-loving dog. They need moderate exercise to burn off their energy. They are barkers and sometimes howl or yelps.
