Breed Details

General

The Wirelsh Terrier, also known from the name Wirelesh Terrier and Weewire, is medium in length, with a rectangular body-shape, elongated and "brick-like" face. They are cross between Welsh terrier and Wire-Fox Terrier. Some have whiskers and beard like their Wire-fox parent. These dogs appears to be clean because of their undercoat that insulates and abrasive coat on top that protects them form dirt, wind and rain.

Color

Wirelsh Terriers are born most likely with all black but changes their color to standard black and tan grizzle as they grow older. Some develop tan colors on their head, legs and underbelly.

Coat

Wirelsh Terriers have a wiry, thick, harsh coat.

Personality

Wirelsh Terriers are non-aggressive, clam, affectionate, lively and playful dogs. They are friendly to people and other dogs. They bark less than normal but can be trusted as a watchdog. They sometimes have a territorial and protective personality which makes them be very alert to mysterious happenings.

Care

These breeds sheds very little to none. They require weekly brushing with their wiry coat. Depending upon the preference of the owner, their coat can be stripped and plucked two or three more times a year. They can also be shaped like the welsh terrier or a wire-for terrier.

Training

The Wirelsh Terriers are smart breeds, however training them will be a problem. They may be hard to train because they tend to have obedient and behavior difficulties. They will need an owner who is experienced in training and taking care of dogs. A firm hand with fairness and consistency are all they need. Repetition and lots of patience on the training will also be needed.

Activity

Wirelsh Terriers are very playful, lively and energetic. They will need high dose of exercises and routines to burn off their energy. They can be good in any apartment size houses but would love to run around a yard, that would be a bonus for them.
