Breed Details
General
Wolamutes are hybrids cross from Timber Wolf and Alaskan Malamute. These breeds are not best for first time and inexperienced breeders. They can be hard to handle with their wolf personality. They are best to be grown in secluded areas, not on the residential areas. It is a must to let these breeds know from the start that the owner is much stronger and is the one who sets the rule and not themselves.
Color
The Wolamutes has a mask-like markings, can be solid tomes from black, white cream and silver. Dark markings can also be visible, which are longer than lighter markings throughout the breed's lifetime.
Coat
Wolamutes have a thick, medium in length, double coat. Their coat is easy to groom and are weather resistant.
Personality
The Wolamute normally inherits most of the genetic trait of a wolf. They are well tempered with their masters but are weary and aloof with strangers. They mostly prefer to be away with large and boisterous crowds. They love to dig, chew, territorial and protective with the family. It is also not best for these dogs to be left alone in the house especially for long hours because they can be really destructive and noisy.
Care
The Wolamutes may suffer from dog ailments like cancer, hip and elbow dysplasia or arthritis. Their coat are easy to groom but will still need to be brushed to keep it good looking.
Training
The Wolamutes can be a little smarter than a normal wolf, but still has their wolf instinct with them. They can be easy to train but needs a firm hand and consistency to keep them well-mannered. They are very eager to please which could be a problem during the training.
Activity
Wolamutes will not need a large space and can live in an apartment type home. They are also not so playful and can be a little energetic than usual. A little exercise will suffice their need to burn their energy.
