Abnormal Growth in the Lower Intestines in Dogs

Rectoanal polyps are characterized by the growth of flap-like protrusions in the anal and rectal walls. The polyps may be directly attached to the intestinal wall, or attached through a stalk-like cylindrical connection. Most of these are non-cancerous, and are extensions of the innermost tissue lining the intestinal walls. Most cases of polyps are isolated cases; however multiple polyps are also seen at times.
