Arsenic Poisoning in Dogs

Arsenic is chemical compound commonly found in like herbicides, insecticides, wood preservatives, and also in some drug formulas for treating blood parasites like heartworm. In parasitic treatment drugs, usually very low levels of arsenic are found, but over-dosage can be poisonous. Usually arsenic poisoning is accidental.

Some common symptoms of arsenic intoxication include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, lethargy, staggering, bright red blood in feces, extreme exhaustion, cold extremities, and loss of consciousness. In case of long-term exposure symptoms may be mild like poor appetite and weight loss while in severe and acute cases, it could be fatal if untreated timely.
