Canine Coronavirus Infection in Dogs

Canine coronavirus infection or CCV is a highly contagious but relatively mild intestinal disease with sporadic or no symptoms. The coronavirus replicates inside the small intestine and the local lymph nodes. If CCV infection occurs along with a viral canine parvovirus infection or infection by other intestinal pathogens, it could be serious to the extent of being fatal. The symptoms may vary from being inapparent in adult dogs or just a single instance of vomiting or diarrhea along with anorexia and depression. Occasional mild respiratory symptoms may be seen. Puppies may exhibit more severe symptoms and severe enteritis which may be fatal.
