Red Eye in Dogs

Inflammation of the eye causes red eye and inflammation in the eye. There can be various causes for this condition including excess blood in the eye (hyperemia) or in the blood vessel ((ocular vasculature). 

In this condition, the blood vessel expands due to extraocular or intraocular (outside of, and within the eye, respectively) inflammation, or a passive accumulation of blood.

The most common and obvious sign of eye inflammation is redness and inflammation of one or both eyes.
