Weak Immune System due to Hereditary Disorder in Dogs

Immune system in animals is a collection of biological processes that protects the body from invading pathogens and tumors. The system is able to distinguish between body cells and invading organisms like bacteria, viruses, parasites etc. The system works 24/7 to protect the body from these pathogens.

Primary immunodeficiency disorders is the condition in which this internal body defense system becomes weak and does not respond as strongly when required. Primary immunodeficiency disorders is a heritable condition where as secondary immunodeficiency disorders are caused by some other primary disease. 

Basset Hounds, Cardigan Welsh corgis, Jack Russel terriers, Beagles, German Shepherds, Chinese Sharpies, Doberman Pinschers, dwarfed Weimaraners, gray collies and irish setters are breeds that are prone to heritable immunodeficiency disorders.

Sympptoms for this condition are:

 

Prone to recurrent infections and failed response to conventional antibiotic therapies

Lethargy

Lack of appetite (anorexia)

Various skin infections

Poor growth (hallmark)

Post vaccination diseases

Other symptoms related to infections
