Whipworms in Dogs

Whipworm or Trichuris trichiura is a parasite which causes Trichuriasis in the animals. The parasite is present in infested food and it can be contracted from one animal to other. Eggs of the parasite can live in an environment from few months to years and can be present in soil, food, water, feces or animal flash. The parasite can infect dogs of any age and breed.

Large bowel inflammation and bloody diarrhea are main symptoms of the condition though sometimes it goes without any symptoms (asymptomatic). Other symptoms are dehydration, anemia and weight loss.
