French White and Orange Hound

The French White and Orange Hound (also called Francais Blanc et Orange) is a large and rustic dog originating in France. Its name depicts its unique coat colour. This large scenthound is an admirable hunter with a calm temperament which makes it an excellent companion dog as well.

This dog stands between 25 to 28 inches. It has a large and longish head with a slightly doomed skull and well marked stop. Full lips give a square shape to longish muzzle. Black or brown nose is well developed and comes with great sensitivity to different scents. Dark brown eyes are large while longish ears are set low on the head, flopped and slightly curled. Strong neck is straight and long and blends smoothly into the body. Fore and hind quarters are very muscular and strong, giving the dog necessary propelling power and fast speed. The dog has broad chest with well rounded ribs. The back is broad and straight with slightly arched loin. The tail is quite long, sometimes with few longer and coarser round the tail slightly off standing hairs (like ears of grain) towards the tip. This breed has a short and fine coat that comes in a distinguished orange and white colour pattern.

This breed is NOT recognized by AKC however it is recognized by UKC and FCI kennel clubs.
